More Than Skin Deep...
As the spa industry has become increasingly enamored of high-tech
tune-ups, Christopher Bascone, of Christopher Bascone Skin Care Studio, continues to embrace a decidedly
low-tech, natural approach to skin care.
“I don’t believe in all that equipment,” says Bascone, a former makeup artist with Chanel. The absence of
machinery allows you the comfort of knowing that a skin-care specialist, not an equipment operator, is
tending to you.
But don’t mistake low tech for low intensity.
Bascone’s treatments are every bit as therapeutic as his technology-crazed
competitors. Restorative results come from his customized regimes. The usual? Forget it.
Treatments vary from client to client, and from session to session. Stresses, hormones, the
environment—any number of factors—dictate his skin-care protocol. Take
Bascone’s Complexion Care
treatment: a full-body restorative that incorporates steam, exfoliation, massage, acupressure, and follicle
extractions. It’s 85 minutes’ worth of rubdowns and rub-ins, strictly made to order. The only
givens, says Bascone, are “good quality products, time and attention.”
